I have been working on a blog post to capture the incredible pressures that so many of us have been feeling, for far too long. Then, I found this article on neworleansmom.com, and it expressed so much of what I wanted to say:
“2021 is harder than 2020 because the old expectations and stressors of pre-pandemic times have returned, but we’re all still reeling from the traumas of this year and last…
In other words, we’re tired. We need time and space to heal, decompress, and process what we’ve been through, and continue to go through, but the return to a more “normal” way of life threatens that.”
Does that sound like you, or someone you care about?
I’m certainly seeing myself in there. I know I’m in a pattern of constantly monitoring, constantly asking myself where and how I can find the time and space I need. Further, I’m asking myself how I can create new systems and structures that make things even better than they were, before 2020. In many ways, the pre-2020 version of “normal” just isn’t going to cut it, anymore.
Many of my clients are also deeply feeling this.
For them, 2020 and 2021 looked like putting their dreams, goals, and priorities on hold, while attending to the crises du jour.
These past 2 two years have felt like exhaustion. Exhaustion all the time, and not knowing why.
For many, it has felt like waking up filled with dread, dread, dread.
Too often, 2020 and 2021 has sounded like:
“Really?!? Just when I thought we were getting back to normal! Does this really have to happen, too?”
And now, it’s sounding more and more like:
“This is NOT OK, anymore. I am DONE!”
Now, here’s the exciting part that comes when we realize we are DONE:
We are ready to go from being tired, exhausted, and full of dread, to finally
*reclaiming our time and how we spend it, so that post-crisis doesn’t look the same as in-crisis,
*picking up the parts of ourselves that we had to leave behind, in order to deal with the situation at hand,
*putting down what we didn’t really want to be carrying, in the first place, and
*not just getting back on track, but creating something much, much better than it was before.
Through my work as a coach, I get to witness the shift of individuals finding the time and space they need to ask themselves powerful questions, so that things can be better than they were in the past:
“Now that I have been through these challenges, what has shifted in me?”
“What do I need, next, for myself, and for the people I care about?”
“How can I do a better job of communicating what I need?”
“Do I need a drastic change, or is it a series of small steps that will get me to somewhere better?”
“What are the steps that are right for me?”
Such questions are significant ones that can make all the difference for reclaiming the time and space we need, which leads us the joy we desire.
Our experiences of the past 2 years have varied widely, but there are commonalities. Out of necessity, we have adapted, we have shifted our priorities, we have offered our time and space to those who have needed it more.
Now, it’s a new moment.
It’s time to shift, again, to recharge ourselves, to reset our priorities, and to renew our commitment to what’s most important for us.
What could happen, as a result?
We could choose to intentionally reserve time on our calendar for what we determine is most important.
We could say “No.” and “Yes.” each spoken in alignment and with conviction.
We could feel calm,
Confident,
Ready.
SO MUCH BETTER about everything.*
We would be excited to finish strong in 2021 and to have an even stronger start to 2022.
Does that sound like something you’d like, too?
If so, I have good news...
Through December 10, I am setting aside time on my calendar to help 5 people to recharge themselves, to reset their priorities, and to renew their commitment to what’s most important for them.
No cost. No Strings.
Why am I doing this?
Because I feel in my bones that so many of us need this conversation right now, and I believe with my heart that a stronger, healthier, more joyful start to 2022 is more possible than you might think.
Can I send you the link to schedule a no-cost session?
Email me, and I will be happy to reserve one of those spots for you.
If it’s someone you care about who needs to have this conversation, feel free to pass this along to them.
New Year, New Moment.
Let’s create some time and space,
For You.
